Dental hygiene
Prevention is key
Dental hygiene is a modern branch of dentistry and an integral part of high-quality dental care. It serves primarily as a preventative measure and helps to avert a whole range of complications, such as tooth decay, gingivitis and periodontitis, also known as periodontal disease.
It involves professional teeth cleaning and gum treatment, as well as the removal of plaque, tartar and all deposits and discolouration that do not belong in the mouth.
A visit to the dental hygienist includes:

- Comprehensive examination of the condition of the teeth, gums and periodontium
- Hygiene guidance – practising tooth-brushing techniques, choosing toothbrushes
- Complete removal of tartar
- Removal of dental plaque and stains using the Airflow Master method (gentle sandblasting and polishing of the teeth)
- Treatment of sensitive tooth necks - application of protective varnishes
- Tooth fluoridation - application of fluoride preparations
- Teeth whitening
